Russian President Vladmir Putin has ordered the large-scale vaccination against the coronavirus with the drug Sputnik V to begin next week, which will be free for the population and will be voluntary.
“More than 2 million doses have been produced or will be produced in the coming days, the production of the first coronavirus vaccine registered in the world, Sputnik V, will reach this level”, declared the president in the framework of a video conference, adding that this allows to start large-scale vaccination in the country.
At first, doctors and teachers will be inoculated.
Characteristics of Sputnik V
Sputnik V uses a human adenovirus technology of two different vectors, Ad26 and Ad5, which are given in two injections.
This solution does not contain live human adenoviruses, but adenoviral vectors, which do not multiply and are completely safe for health.
In fact, the drug builds on an existing two-vector platform with which other vaccines have already been created.
