More than 3400 prisoners are missing from Tihar Jail in Delhi. During Corona, prisoners convicted in 1184 separate cases received emergency parole, out of which 1072 prisoners surrendered. While 112 prisoners did not surrender. Similarly, 5556 undertrials in jail were granted bail during the Corona, out of which 2200 prisoners returned before the end of the bell, while around 3300 undertrials have not yet returned.

At the same time, according to the report of the news agency PTI, more than 60 prisoners and 11 employees infected with the corona virus are being treated in three prison premises of Delhi. Officials told about this on Wednesday. Director-General (Prisons) Sandeep Goyal said, “A total of 190 prisoners have been infected so far”. As of Wednesday, the number of patients under treatment in Delhi’s jails is 78. These include 11 jail staff. Goyal said, ‘Out of 190 cases of infection, 121 prisoners have recovered while two died. At present, there are 67 under-treated patients. As many as 304 jail personnel have been infected so far. Of these, 293 workers have been cured and 11 are undergoing treatment.

He said that 11 personnel including the Superintendent of Mandoli Jail and two doctors of Tihar Jail have been infected. The first case of infection in Rohini Jail came on 13 May last year.
