Man held with pistols and cartridges hidden in car in Delhi

The Delhi Police has arrested a weapon smuggler with a huge consignment of sophisticated illegal weapons in the capital. Police interrogates him and is trying to trace more people associated with the gang.

Police said on Friday that a 24-year-old man was arrested with 35 illegally manufactured pistols and 60 cartridges, which he had hidden in his car and brought from Madhya Pradesh to Delhi for smuggling.

Special Cell’s DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said pistols and bullets were hidden in secret places built under the four doors and under the car. The alleged smuggler Ashish Pandey was driving the car. Ashish hails from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

On Thursday, a police officer in the team that arrested smuggler Ashish Pandey said that weapons and bullets were smuggled from Madhya Pradesh to Delhi to deliver to criminals operating in Sonepat, Haryana. This consignment was to be transported to another smuggler, but before that we arrested him from Rohini.
