While last May, the announcement of a fifth season ofInsecure delighted more than one fan, the series will come to an end. Indeed, the fifth season, expected at the end of 2021, will also be the last.
Insecure, this critically acclaimed comedy series from Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore, chronicles the misadventures of an African-American woman in her late thirties. Issa questions everything: her life, her projects, her relationships… She can count greatly on her best friend, Molly, who is also in the midst of questions.
More than four years later, the series will come to an end at the end of this year. Indeed, HBO has just announced that the fifth season will be the last and that the storyline is over. If all goes well, the shooting of this final season should be done in the coming months, to be broadcast at the end of the year.
Although this announcement seems sudden, in reality, it is not trivial. Indeed, the co-creator and actress, Issa Rae, said the plan was to tell this series in five seasons, and no more. Issa and Molly will therefore bow out, but that does not herald an end in itself. Indeed, it seems that Issa Rae has other projects with the HBO channel.
