It’s finally official ! HBO has commissioned the serial adaptation of The Last of Us, one of the most iconic video games of the past decade.

Some time ago, there was talk of a series adaptation of The Last of Us. If nothing was official yet, today it is done since the American channel HBO ordered the series.

Certainly the idea of an adaptation of one of the best video games of recent years can make more than one skeptical. But the fact that Naughty Dog, the game’s original studio, is heavily involved is reassuring. Indeed, Neil Druckmann, the director of The Last of Us Part. II, will work closely with Craig Mazin on production and screenplay. The latter is none other than the man behind the script of the series Chernobyl.

In addition, Johan Renck will direct the first episode of the series, which was also on Chernobyl, but to whom we owe episodes of Bloodline, Bates Motel, Viking or breaking Bad. Also, Carolyn Strauss (Chernobyl) will be in production. But at the moment, we still do not know who could play Elie and Joël.

In short, this series promises to be a very large and very beautiful project. Francesca Oris, vice president of programming for HBO, was also expressed on this subject : (…) the series will be sure to please both the most dedicated fans of The Last of Us and those initiated into a new genre saga. We’re excited to partner with Naughty Dog, Word Games, Sony, and PlayStation to bring this epic and powerful immersive story to life. “
