He is popular for appearing in the films The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018), The Old Guard (2020), The Devil All the Time (2020), etc.  In 2020, he struck stardom with Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit in which he played the role of Harry Beltik.

Harry Melling was born as Harry Edward Melling on Monday, December 13, 1989 (age 31 years; as of 2020), in London, England. He did his schooling at the Hendon School, and Mill Hill School, London. Later, he pursued a course in acting at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). He is a former member of the National Youth Theatre, London. At the age of ten, he began his journey as an actor, after he was cast in the Harry Potter films.

In 2009, Harry Melling starred in a revival of the play ‘Mother Courage and her Children’ at the Royal National Theatre in which he played the role of Swiss Cheese. In 2011, he played the role of Sir Benjamin Backbite in the play The School for Scandal at Barbican Centre, a performing arts center in London.

In 2014, he came into the spotlight with his playwrighting debut ‘Peddling’ that premiered at the HighTide festival, New York. The play was inspired by Melling’s childhood, when a young boy knocked on the door of his family home in North London, trying to sell them household goods.
