The perpetrator who beheaded a school history teacher on September 16 in a Paris suburb is an 18-year-old Chechen born in Moscow. This was announced on Saturday, October 17, by the National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor’s Office France, which is investigating this crime.

According to the French media, Abdulah A. arrived in France with his parents, who received refugee status ten years ago. The police were not aware of his radical views.

According to the head of the anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office, Jean-François Ricard, shortly before the attack, the offender approached the students on the street and asked them to point to his future victim. After the attack, Abdulah A. posted on Twitter a photo of the teacher’s body, accompanied by a message that he had just committed a murder.

Beheaded for cartoons of the prophet

Samuel P., 47, worked as a history and geography teacher at a college in the Paris suburb of Conflans-Saint-Honorine. Earlier, during a lesson on freedom of speech, he showed his students the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad published by the satirical publication Charlie Hebdo. After that, according to the AFP agency, he began receiving threats from the parents of the students. The teacher reported them to the school authorities and the local police station.

Witnesses claim that the attacker, armed with a kitchen knife, shouted “Allahu Akbar!” Nine people were detained after the alleged terrorist attack in France. Some of the detainees are relatives of the attacker, including one minor. The parents of the students of the school where the murdered teacher worked, and a number of persons not connected with the family of the alleged terrorist were also detained. According to Reuters, the half-sister of one of those arrested was a member of the Islamic State terrorist group.
