Around 780 kg of Giant Fish was caught this morning by a group of fishermen off Digha coast of Bengal (Bengal). The fish, which the locals call Shankar Fish, is like an elephant’s ear. This fish was 8 feet long and 5 feet wide. The giant fish was sold for 50,000 rupees to a fish trading company in the state.
The fish was caught 8 km from Odisha’s Udaipur beach near Digha. Fishermen of the coastal city say that it is the heaviest fish ever. This fish looks like Manta ray fish. Such fish belong to the Ray family. Shankar fish is a common name for all ray fishes in eastern India.
After being caught, a huge crowd gathered to see the huge fish. The videos have been widely shared on social media, the authenticity of which remains to be verified. Even when it was brought to local markets, tourists gathered to watch the fish. Shankar fish is widely eaten in Bengal.
