Daisy Ridley recently confessed that she was having trouble bouncing back from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Good news for her fans, the 28-year-old actress will be headlining the film “Young Woman and the Sea” or “La Jeune Femme et la mer”, in French. The feature film will be broadcast on the Disney + video streaming platform.

Daisy Ridley rose to fame for her role as Rey in the last three episodes of Star Wars. Unfortunately, the actress would not have received any proposal after the release of the last episode of the Skywalker saga. It seems that the situation has turned around. Today, in addition to her role in Young Woman and the Sea, the actress will also star in Chaos Walking, which is billed as a blockbuster of the year 2021.

Young Woman and the Sea will be an adaptation of a 2009 novel by Glenn Stout. It tells the story of Gertrude “Trudy” Ederle, the first woman to swim the English Channel. The latter was a competitive swimmer from Manhattan who won gold at the 1924 Olympics. Only five men had achieved this feat before her. When she returned to New York, she had been greeted by two million people.

The film will be directed by Joachim Rønning, who was also the director of the film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Scheduled for several years, it will be written by Jeff Nathanson.
