Even though director Ali Abbas Zafar has apologized for the alleged objectionable comments on the gods of Hinduism in the Tandava web series, BJP leaders are still not in a mood to spare him. BJP leader Kapil Mishra has tweeted, ‘Ali Abbas Zafar Ji – Never apologize by making a movie on your religion. Why freedom of expression with our own religion? Never be ashamed of making fun of your only God. The law of India will account for your crimes. Withdraw poisonous content, orgy has to be removed.

Earlier on Monday, Zafar Ali Abbas issued a statement apologizing on behalf of the entire star cast and crew members of the Tandava web series. Ali Abbas Zafar tweeted a statement, writing, ‘We are keeping an eye on the reaction of the audience on the web series Tandava. From the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, we have been told about the objections and complaints of a large number of people about how its content has hurt the sentiments of some people.

Simultaneously, Ali Abbas Zafar wrote, ‘Its content is completely imaginary. Its association with any individual event is just a coincidence. The cast and crew members of the web series have no intention of hurting the feelings of any community, religion, caste, race and creed.

The cast and crew members of the Tandava web series have taken cognizance of people’s objections. If anyone’s feelings are hurt by this, we apologize unconditionally. Let us know that since the release of the Tandava web series, there is a dispute about it. Even on Monday, BSP Chief Mayawati had also tweeted that if there is anything objectionable in this or is going to hurt the sentiments of any community then it should be removed. Explain that in the first episode of this web series, comments have been made about Lord Shiva and Ram, about which people expressed strong opposition on social media.

Not only this, cases have also been registered against the makers of this web series in some places. Notice was also issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to Amazon Prime regarding this. Commenting on this web series, Congress leader Milind Deora has also said that there should be some system for content self-regulation of OTP platforms. This system should be similar to TV channels and there should be no interference from the government in this.
