Four dead, including one shooting victim, after pro-Trump mob storms US Capitol, police confirm

Capitol Building Riot After Election 2020

Former Air Force member Ashli Babbit died after being shot by a member of law enforcement as she took part in a mob that stormed the US Capitol in Washington, DC, Metropolitan Police Department Chief Robert Contee said in a press conference on Wednesday evening. Contee confirmed that three others died due to “medical emergencies” as the Capitol was stormed.

City police officers arrested 70 people on charges related to unrest from Wednesday through 7 a.m. Thursday, Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department said. Most of those arrests were for violating curfew, with many also facing charges of unlawful entry.

Tragically, 4 individuals lost their lives yesterday:

35 y/o Ashli Babbitt of Huntington, MD died of a gunshot wound.

34 y/o Rosanne Boyland of Kennesaw, GA; 55 y/o Kevin Greeson of Athens, AL; and 50 y/o Benjamin Phillips of Ringtown, PA all suffered medical emergencies.

The Capitol Police says its officers arrested another 14 people, most of them for unlawful entry. Two of those arrested were charged with carrying a pistol without a license; two others were charged with assaulting a police officer.

The scenes of chaos Wednesday afternoon, as a Trump rally devolved into unrest and insurrection, left the country shaken and the nation’s capital on alert.
