Nirmala Channapa or Nirmala Chennappa is an Indian actor, director, and producer who mainly works in the Kannada film industry. She is known for playing the role of ‘Jaya’ in the Kannada film “Thallana” (2012).

Nirmala Channapa was born on Sunday, 21 June 1987 (age 34 years; as of 2021) in Bangalore. Nirmala holds a Masters degree in Arts, Social Work & Drama. She was good at sports since childhood and was a Kabbadi player in her school days. It was during her PU holidays that someone advised her to attend an acting workshop. Although she never thought of acting before, she decided to attend a theatre workshop with Nagabharana’s Benaka. There she learnt different forms of theatre and was viewed as the best actress in the troupe. Soon, Benaka offered her to join their troupe. She then went to Rangayana for a three-months training in acting.

Career

Nirmala started her career as a theatre artist and did around 14 to 15 plays. She didn’t want to restrict herself to acting, so she took up stage lighting and designing and make-up tasks too. Slowly, she started working as a theatre artist and technician. Nirmala Channapa made her acting debut in 2012 with the Kannada film “Thallana” in which she played the role of ‘Jaya.’

Subsequently, she appeared in the Kannada films “Jigarthanda” (2016) and “Kiragoorina Gayyaligalu” (2016). She has also been a part of Kannada TV serials like “Kicchu” (2018) and “Parvati Parameshwara” (2014). In 2021, she participated in the reality TV show “Bigg Boss Kannada 8.”

She has also appeared in the short film “O Kusuma Bale” (2018). Nirmala was featured in the advertisement of London filmmakers Richard Cousins’.

In addition to being an actress and theatre artist, she is also an entrepreneur who founded the production company ‘Sai Nirmala Productions.’ Nirmala worked as a creative director for the TV serial “Padmavathi” (2018), which was produced under her production house.
