hild artist Kartikey Raj popularly known as Khajur from ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ is just 12 years old. And can you believe this; at this young age, he is earning his livelihood to support his family through his art. Born and brought up in Patna, Bihar, Kartikey always dreamt of living a peaceful life in his hometown. But seems like destiny had something different planned for him.
In an interview with Dailybhaskar.com, Kartikey said, “I never wanted to become an actor; in fact I used to not like acting at all. My father had forcibly sent me to Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan (acting institute in Bihar) to learn acting. I had hardly spent one month there when one day my acting sir asked me to audition for India’s Best Dramebaaz. Surprisingly, I got selected and was sent to Kolkatta. I was one of the 16 participants who came to Mumbai for the show. It was like a dream for me because everything happened unplanned. Now, I have become fond of acting and my dream is to become a successful actor in future.”
Apart from his fondness towards acting, Kartikey is also fond of studying. But his financial status doesn’t allow him to achieve his dream of getting good education.
Shedding more light on it, Kartikey said, “I want to study in Mumbai but here the fees is too high as compared to our Patna one. I cannot afford to study in Mumbai. And so, I do my revisions here and go to Bihar just to give the exams. Honestly, it is little painful but I do not have any other option. Apart from my education, there is also one thing that hurts me a lot. My parents are not staying together because of me. My mom stays with me in Mumbai because of my work and my father is in Bihar who looks after my younger brother. I just hope that one day I will earn so much money that I could buy my own house in Mumbai as well as in Bihar.”
Kartikey’s mother Kiran Devi further adds, “We have been through those days when we did not have enough food to eat. Forget about getting education from Mumbai, we could not even afford to educate our children in Patna. But in the last four years, our destiny has taken a U-turn. Honestly, we are in a better position after Kartikey started working. We all are very proud of him but I also do not want his studies to suffer.”
